Letting go…

Why do humans have a hard time letting go of the past? Is it because our society has taught us that if we don’t feel guilty about something then we aren’t “normal”? With all the people rushing to therapists and psychoanalysts one has to wonder when we all decided we were ‘broken’. Or is it because we have the cellular need to be among the familiar? To follow the deep ruts in our brain that have established the patterns of our past that we now look for in the present?
